Short Creek MM (Hicksite) was one of the larger MMs in Ohio YM (H). At the time of the 1828 division, the Hicksites sustained four PMs: Short Creek, Mount Pleasant, West Grove, and Harrisville. The decision to build a new Hicksite yearly meeting house at Salem had the effect of shifting the center of gravity of the YM to Salem, particularly as the Hicksite presence at Mount Pleasant dwindled. At some point in the nineteenth century, a new Short Creek Meeting House was built at Emerson, but the meeting continued to use the large brick Short Creek Meeting House for quarterly meetings. By 1900, the MM had two PMs: Short Creek at Emerson and West Grove. A report on the state of Ohio YM (Hicksite) in 1914 mentioned that weekly worship was only held at Short Creek (Emerson) - other meetings survived but only met for monthly meetings. When Ohio YM (H) laid itself down in 1919, Short Creek MM (H) continued to meet for three years.
