Kendal PM (H) was initially one of four strong PMs in Marlborough MM (H). The majority of the pre-division meeting at Kendal were Hicksite in 1828, and the Orthodox minority withdrew from using the meeting house. The Hicksite meeting was quickly undermined by an epidemic in 1828, after which many of its members joined a local communal society. Some of the people tried to be part of the meeting and the communal society, but eventually both failed. Kendal Meeting (H) was laid down in 1833.
