Captina Meeting was a small meeting for worship located southeast of Stillwater (1808-1854). A small meeting house was built; this is likely the meeting house shown in a photo in the Heritage Room at Stillwater that is labelled "Goshen"; the actual Goshen Meeting was Hicksite.
After the PM was laid down (1836), Captina Meeting was moved out of the meeting house to a residence in the neighborhood of Matthew Wood (Stillwater QM 6/1/1836). Captina Meeting continued to meet another 17 years. Stillwater MM asked Stillwater QM to lay down Captina Meeting, and the request was granted on 3/2/1854. |
