William Wilson was one of the earliest Elders in a meeting that later became Ohio Yearly Meeting. He was born in 6/1739. See his attached memorial for more information.
Wilson was a prominent founding member of Westland Meeting. He was one of the first two overseers appointed by Hopewell MM in 1781. At the first session of Westland MM in 1785, Wilson was one of two men Friends appointed as representatives by Westland PM to the MM (Redstone PM also appointed two men).
Wilson raised a concern at Westland MM on 11/22/1788 that Friends there needed to open a select preparative meeting for ministers and elders. The MM asked Fairfax QM for its direction, and it reported favorably, so Westland MM directed the ministers and elders to begin meeting together on 12/27/1788.
