Amasa Lipsey was a leading Friend of Short Creek MM in the early 1800s. His parents were Rosco and Tamer Lipsey. While living in North Carolina, he married (1) Peninah, who died in NC. Amasa moved to Westland in 1800, and the following year he married (2) Rachel Wilson. They were founding members of Concord and then Short Creek MMs. Amasa Lipsey was the initial men's overseer at Short Creek. After Rachel's death, Amasa married (3) Sarah (Wilson) Johns, a widow. After her death, he married (4) Sarah Cox.
