The select Yearly Meeting was known as the YM of Ministers & Elders from 1813 until 1961 and the YM for Ministry & Oversight beginning in 1962. As was the common Friends practice, the select YM was comprised of select QMs, which were in turn comprised of select PMs. The Ohio Discipline has never used the terminology of select MM, though that term has been used unofficially in the past half century.
Minute Books
The minute books for this body are extant beginning with 1851 with the exception of the year 1936, which was lost. The minute book from 1813 to 1850 was in the possession of Hannah S. Ladd following the death of the Clerk (her husband Benjamin W. Ladd), and she did not turn it in because she did not approve of the Clerk who was appointed to replace her deceased husband. The earlier minute books is lost. |
