The third Marlborough Meeting House was constructed in 1840 and was used until 1895.

After the Hicksite division, the Orthodox and Hicksites had shared the second Marlborough MH. This arrangement was complicated, and the Orthodox periodically discussed the construction of a new MH.

The Orthodox agreed to build a new MH at their MM on 1/28/1840. John Ellyson was chosen to oversee the construction (MM 3/31/1840). The MH was directed to be 44x28 feet, with two raised benches along the front and back walls. The new MH was constructed in the NW corner of the MH lot near the second MH. Construction was complete around 12/1/1840.

The MH was in use by the Orthodox Friends until the division of 1854. By this time, Marlborough Meeting was small and was nearly evenly divided. The Gurneyites laid down their PM in 1856 but may have continued to worship in the MH afterwards. The Wilburites laid down the PM in 1855, with worship continuing in the MH until 1895.
