The Sandy Hill Meeting House was located three miles west of Uniontown. It was located on New Salem Road approximately in the location of the marker on the map.
The Sandy Hill Meeting House was mentioned in a list of new meeting houses in the minutes of Baltimore YM in 1802. A history of Quakers in Fayette County found in the Uniontown library says it was a log meeting house. The building disappeared in the second half of the 19th century, and another denomination constructed a house of worship near the burial ground.
The property was purchased by the MM in 1817 (Fayette County Deeds L-327). |
