The Hicksite Middleton MM was originally a strong body in eastern Columbiana County and the counties in Pennsylvania along the Ohio border. The Middleton Meeting was held in a meeting house in the village of Columbiana, not the pre-division Middleton location. After Fairfield PM was laid down in 1836, the MM included Middleton PM (Columbiana) and Beaver Falls. Both meetings were declining, but Beaver Falls was set off as an MM in 1846. Middleton absorbed the remnants of Carmel MM (H) in 1855, bringing some needed fresh faces to the meeting. Little business was transacted at Middleton MM in the late 1850s, and beginning in 1862 it was increasingly common for only William Nichols to appear for business meetings. The remnants of Beaver Falls Meeting were re-attached to Middleton MM in 1864, but Beaver Falls Friends rarely made the trip to attend MM. In late 1867, the MM appointed a committee to collect all minute books and make a list of members in preparation for laying down the MM and PM. Middleton MM (H) was last held on 2/12/1868.
