The Peace Committee was created in 1928 and merged with the Human Relations Committee in 1985.
The concern for a peace committee was initially raised at Ohio YM in 1925. A committee was appointed to consider the idea but recommended against it, and the YM followed its advice (Ohio YM 1925: 23).
In 1928, "a concern was expressed in the meeting that we might be alive to our opportunities to spread the gospel of peace." On 9/13/1928, the YM appointed the initial Peace Committee "to promote the cause of Peace" (Ohio YM minutes 1928:19). |
