History H. Alden Hall served as Clerk of Ohio YM of Ministers & Elders from 1954 to 1961. He was apparently a fourth cousin of Howard T. Hall, who had served 1942-1952. H. Alden Hall served as Clerk during the revision of the Discipline, though the changes did not take place until after his term of office had ended.
The traditional schedule of the select YM, established in the late 19th century, was used throughout Hall's term. Only eight travelling minutes were read during these seven years: three each from Iowa and Philadelphia, one from Sweden, and one from London. Hall minuted that several Friends attended without bringing minutes. In 1958, the select YM directed Short Creek QM to consider additional appointments, and in the following two years it recognized four Elders. In 1960, it was minuted for the first time who was appointed to sit at the head of the meeting at YM time: Louis J. Kirk and Walter Edgerton.
