In the Society of Friends, a "meeting for worship" (MW) is the local worshipping congregation.
Historically, MWs were subordinate to preparative meetings. While it was most common for a PM to only have one subordinate MW, it was also common to have 2-4 MWs in a particular PM. This system was adjusted in the early 20th century when most PMs were laid down. After this time, MWs were subordinate to monthly meetings. |
