Jacob Branson was a leading minister in Ohio YM in the early 1800s. He was a son of William & Elizabeth Branson. His father was not a Friend; he and his mother joined Friends at Hopewell in 1776. He was the father of Ann Branson and an uncle of Asa Branson.
Branson was one of the earliest ministers in Ohio who recognized danger signs in the ministry of Elisha Bates. He was one of six Friends attending a meeting of the M4S in 1832 who opposed a proposed address to members (drafted by Bates) that used unscriptural language and incorporated ideas contrary to the doctrines of Friends.
