Isaac Wilson was born in Pennsylvania. He moved with his wife Rebecca and children from Abington MM to Concord MM in 1806. The children married, and Rebecca died in Ohio. Wilson held many posts among Friends on all levels in Ohio. He was granted a minute from Plainfield MM to attend Baltimore YM on 9/24/1818. While in Baltimore, he either met or resumed a correspondence with Ann McCoy, and they were married in early 1819. Wilson resigned his various appointments in 1819 and moved to Baltimore MD.
Some information about Wilson's life during his retirement in Baltimore is provided by Ella K. Barnard in her book Early Maltby with some Roades History and that of the Maulsby Family in America, Descendants of William and Mary Maltby, Emigrants from Nottinghamshire, England to Pennsylvania (1909). This source provides the date and location of his marriage to Ann McCoy (Lombard Street FMH in Baltimore, 4/14/1819) and states "there were fifty-four signers to the certificate" (p. 238). Wilson moved to Baltimore, into Ann's house at 31 German Street. Barnard described the house as "a three-story brick house with one low
broad step of marble, to the street, and is still standing" (p. 238). Apparently his certificate from Plainfield was received in Baltimore on 10/10/1819, and Wilson was listed in the Baltimore directory of 1822 as a "gentleman" (p. 241). Barnard states on page 241 that Isaac Wilson died on 5/15/1827 and was buried at Aisquith Street FBG, Baltimore. Ann died in 1851.
