Bessie E. Schofield was born in Marion Township, Morgan County, a daughter of William & Nellie (Wood) Elliott. During her marriage to Clarence Schofield, Bessie was a member of the Chesterhill Methodist congregation and active in its WCTU and its literary class. She died in Millersburg, Ohio, at the home of a daughter.
