Joseph Fawcett lived on the periphery of Friends in his early life. He married Amelia around 1800, but the Quaker records in Virginia don't reflect this marriage. A man named Joseph Fawcett had his membership transferred to Plainfield in 1804, after he was married and had children. After that time, he appeared in the records in Plainfield and Flushing.
