Patience T. Carr was a Marlborough Wilburite Friend. She was born in Contentnea MM, NCYM, a daughter of David & Hannah Thomas. For an unknown reason, she was granted a certificate of membership at age three and relocated to Redstone MM. There, she became an apprentice of Esther French, the future women's Clerk of Ohio YM. The French family relocated to Salem MM in 1808 and took Patience with them (she was then 11 years old). Patience married out to Samuel Carr around 1815; she retained her membership but Samuel did not at that time. The family were founding members of Upper Springfield MM in 1825. They relocated to Marlborough MM in 1835. At the time of the 1828 division, the Carrs were Orthodox, and then in 1854 they were among the few Wilburites at Marlborough. Samuel rejoined Friends in 1869 but died four years later. Patience continued to worship at Marlborough until her death in 1891.
