Springfield QM was created during a reconfiguration of the QMs in the greater Columbiana County area in 1836. Of the five QMs in Ohio YM at the time of the Gurney-Wilbur division in 1854, Springfield had the largest proportion of Gurneyites. The Wilburite QM gradually lost strength and was laid down in 1872.
