Salem QM (Iowa) was the Wilburite body in Iowa between the division of 1854 and the establishment of Hickory Grove QM by Ohio YM. Originally, it was a sizeable body comprised of two strong PMs (Red Cedar and Linn) and one weak PM (Springdale), but as an independent Wilburite QM not subordinate to any YM. Once Ohio YM began to establish meetings in Iowa, most members of Salem QM left to join these Ohio meetings. With membership dwindling, Salem QM itself last met in 1860, after which time only one MM survived. That MM (Linn) suffered a King-Otis division in 1862; the King group almost entirely joined Ohio YM while the Otis group joined Falsington GM. |
