History J. Howard Edgerton served as Clerk of Ohio YM of Ministers & Elders for a decade. His uncle Walter Edgerton preceded him. In 1931, when the position became vacant due to Walter Edgerton's death, Thomas A. Crawford served as clerk for the first day but J. Howard Edgerton was recommended by the QM Representatives.
The schedule that was described under Thomas A. Crawford's term remained in effect. During Edgerton's term, the following numbers of travelling minutes were read: North Carolina - 12; Philadelphia - 10; Western - 6; Iowa - 2; Fritchley - 1. In 1932, a minute for a Friend from the London YM Meeting for Sufferings was read, and following this it appears that any travelling minutes were read. Other minutes came from a Friend from Columbus, one from the Hicksite Philadelphia YM, one from New York YM, and one for a Friend from Tennessee.
The select YM considered little business out of the normal. In 1931 it approved a letter of advice to the general membership of Ohio YM (the text is posted below), and in 1933 it approved a letter of advice to subordinate select meetings. The minutes for 1936 are lost. In 1940, the select YM appointed Mariana D. Binns as its first Assistant Clerk. |
